Comprehensive Neurological Exam

Not sure of what area to scan?  On complex cases, our Medical Director will perform a stand-alone neuro/ortho exam to determine if an MRI is necessary and if so, the best areas to scan.

Single Area MRI Scan

Each scan includes: a physical exam, IV catheterization, general anesthesia, contrast dye (if required), monitored recovery, interpretation from a board-certified veterinary radiologist within 48hrs, and a tele-consult to discuss findings and treatment options. 

Single Area Scan - $2495

Additional Areas - $300

*Pre-anesthesia bloodwork less than 20 days old is required to receive anesthesia.  This can be done at your treating vet the week of the MRI.

Frequently asked questions

Why Does VOMRI Cost Less?

Veterinary MRI is often performed inside a large specialty hospital with substantial overhead.  VOMRI uses a focused, outpatient model to concentrate specifically on MRI.  This lowers our costs and we pass that saving along to owners.

Does Lower Pricing Mean Lower Quality?

No.  Our magnet is a hospital-grade, high-field 1.5T 16x GE Excite used in most human hospitals.  Our scans are interpreted by board-certified veterinary radiologists and available within 48hrs.  And our medical staff is composed of experienced veterinary doctors and techs, ensuring your pet remains safe and cared for throughout the process.

How Far Out Are You Scheduling And How Long Does It Take?

We scan primarily on Sundays.  We try to accommodate our owners with same week scheduling.  You can expect to drop off your pet in the morning around 10am and pick up by early afternoon. 

Does My Dog Need An MRI?

Not every dog with pain, weakness or a seizure automatically requires advanced MRI imaging.   Our goal is to image the right dog, in the right area at the right time. That is why we offer a neuro/ortho exam on cases where there is a question.  Some common symptoms that may require an MRI:

  • Seizures
  • Leg Weakness
    • Dragging, knuckling or unexplained weakness
  • Back/Neck Pain
  • Neurologic Changes
    • balance, coordination or behavior abnormalities
What If My Pet Requires Surgery After the MRI?

Our Medical Director, Dr. Mark Soderstrom, DVM, is a veterinary surgeon with close to 30-years of surgical practice, including spine and orthopedic-related injuries.  He can offer his services or recommend a treatment plan that you can implement with a surgeon of your choice.    

Will My Neurologist Accept Your MRI?

Yes.  We regularly forward our scans and reports to larger neurology groups to use in surgical and nonsurgical treatment.
