Determining Your Pet's Scan

Our Medical Director will review your pet's medical records and determine the best scan option.  On complex cases your pet will be scheduled for a comprehensive neurological/orthopedic exam prior to the scan.

Pre-Scan Preparation

Once the appropriate scan(s) are chosen, you'll be sent dietary instructions for your pet to follow on the day of the scan.  In most cases, bloodwork has already been completed.  If not, your vet's clinic can complete this lab work.

Images and Results

Once the MRI is completed, both you and your vet will receive a written report from a board-certified veterinary radiologist within 48 hours.  Our team will follow up with the treating vet to facilitate treatment options.

Precise imaging, fast results, and clear pricing to help you get the answers you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will my pet need to stay at your facility?

Most pets are with us for 3-5 hours total, which includes check-in, pre-MRI preparation, the imaging procedure itself, and recovery time. We typically schedule drop-off in the morning with afternoon pickup, though exact timing depends on our daily schedule and your pet's recovery needs.

Do all veterinarians refer to your facility?

We accept referrals from any licensed veterinarian. If your veterinarian hasn't worked with us before, we're happy to establish a relationship. In some cases, pet owners seek our services directly; we can coordinate with your primary veterinarian to ensure continuity of care.

Will my pet be in pain?

Your pet will feel no pain during the MRI as they will be under general anesthesia. After the procedure, most pets experience no discomfort related to the imaging itself. Some may have mild soreness at the IV catheter site or slight grogginess from anesthesia, but these effects typically resolve within 24 hours.

Can I stay with my pet during the MRI?

For safety reasons, pet owners cannot remain in the MRI room during the scan. The powerful magnetic field means no metal objects can be present, and the machine produces loud noises during operation. Rest assured our compassionate staff will care for your pet as if they were our own.

What if the MRI finds something serious?

If the MRI reveals a serious condition, a member of our veterinary team will consult directly with your veterinarian to discuss findings and treatment options. We are happy to help facilitate any treatment options arrived at by you and your vet.

Insurance & Reimbursement

We are an outpatient, self-pay facility and do not bill pet insurance directly. However, we will provide you with a detailed invoice that includes all necessary information for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
